New map and game mode released for MGO beta

Apr. 29 12:28 PM by Dylan Duarte

The MGO beta has been up and running since Friday and those that have been having a blast have a new reason to be excited as Konami has released a new map and a new game mode to play around with. Hit the jump for details.

The new map, pictured above, is called Midtown Maelstrom and is part of the Middle East stage in Metal Gear Solid 4. The map consists of a few main streets and a web of alleyways. This sounds like one of those maps that'll be confusing and possibly frustrating until you memorize it, then it will be your domain.

The game mode is called Sneaking Mission and allows one lucky player to play as Metal Gear Solid 4's protagonist, the always loveable Solid Snake - complete with his full arsenal of moves! The other players will be divided up between the red team and the blue team, and their objectives will go back and forth between defeating Snake and defeating the opposing team. Snake's objective will be to collect dog tags, which can be taken by stunning an opponent or holding them up. If more than ten people are in the game, one player will get to play as Mk. II, Snake's robotic sidekick.

There were a lot of inital problems with the beta, but kudos to Konami for going out of their way to make up for all the hassle.
