Over at the Konami forums, a Konami employee recently answered some questions about the upcoming limited Gun Metal Playstation 3. Hit the jump to read all about it.
The Gun Metal PS3 is more than just a PS3 with a new paint job. It's a different material that sports more of a "matte" finish as opposed to a "glossy" one. So it's a PS3 with a "matte" finish and a paint job.
The system will be very, very limited. Exact numbers couldn't be given but there are a bit less than ten thousand units.
Konami went with the 40GB unit simply because it's the only version available in Japan.
It also asked if backwards compatibility would be implemented into the 40GB units (since that's a feature they currently lack), which the employee responded by saying that that's an issue for Sony, not Konami.
Limited edition junk doesn't do a lot for me. I was mildly interested in this bundle until I found out that it was coming with a 40GB unit for $100 more than the standard bundle. Unappealing is sort of an understatement.

I'm not exactly into the limited edition stuff either. Especially not for $100 more.
I don't even have a PS3 yet, but I'm definitely not going to start at one that's more expensive.
I hear ya, brotha. The normal MGS4 bundle, however, is a fantastic deal and a great place to start.
Well right now it's a money issue in general for why I don't have a PS3 otherwise I would have had one a long time ago.
