Here's an excerpt from their official release:
GameStop to Host Metal Gear Solid 4 Launch Events Nationwide GameStop Corp. GME, today announced that it will host events on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at approximately 1,500 of its U.S. GameStop stores for the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots by Konami. These events will include trivia contests, a Metal Gear Big Boss costume contest and an exclusive sneak-peek of the game leading up to the 12:01 a.m. Thursday release.
Most participating GameStop locations will begin their events after 10:00 p.m. local time; however, customers are encouraged to contact their local store to confirm the exact time of the event.
A list of the participating stores can be found here.
Do yourself a favor and make sure you call before you show up! My local Gamestop was only doing the midnight launch for Grand Theft Auto IV, so I would have looked mighty stupid if I showed up at 10:00pm dressed like Roman Bellic.

Well, alas, I have not a PS3. My friend is a huge MGS fan, and he works at Best buy, so I'm sure he'll get his copy on time.
I do hate Gamestop though. They lost any street cred with me the second they dropped their classic games. I know they're a huge business that bent on making money, but it shows more respect for gaming if you still sell the classics along with the new stuff. Even if they don't make them the most money, I still feel that classic games and systems should be sold at any store that claims to be a game store.
Im not a fan of GameStop or pre-orders in general, but I *am* going to be in line tonight waiting to pick up my pre-order. MGS4 is a MUST OWN for me, the second it comes out, so the midnight release and a bit of late hour gaming is my immediate future.
The downside? Going to work in the morning is going to be hell.
Work can wait. I don't have a PS3, but I'd stay up the whole night and then go to work in the morning if I had to (I've done it before a number of times). MGS4 will only launch once.
