Despite the fact that it's now Sunday - my bad - here is this week's installment of Weapon Wednesdays. We'll call this the Sunday edition. This week I'm looking at the M4 Carbine, an assault rifle featured in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
The AK-102 with the GP30 Grenade Launcher attachment.
A variation of the ever-popular AK-47, the AK-102 is the first firearm that you're able to wield in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. In the very beginning of Act 1 you can nab it off of the PMC troops and they also become your source for ammo. You need it more than they do anyway.
Later in the game you can purchase and add the GP30 grenade launcher. Not very stealthy, but quite the implement of destruction.
Here's the second half of Teh2dGamer's MGS tribute.
The Ruger MKII (Mark 2) is one of the first guns that you get in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Otacon gives it to Snake near the beginning of the game, when you also receive the Metal Gear Mark II. The pistol sports a built-in silencer and is used in the game to fire tranquilizer darts. Despite being one of the first weapons you receive, it is also one of the best.
The Skorpion submachine gun is available in both Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4, but you might know it best as the free submachine gun in Metal Gear Online. When you're playing with Drebin points on, this is the gun that you're forced to use when you have no points acquired. Read more about the Skorpion after the break.
The PSS Silent Pistol is a Russian-made handgun that is featured in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Details on this pocket-sized weapon are somewhat scarce, but that just makes me all the more intrigued. If you're as curious as I am, read on.
The Desert Eagle plays a very minor, optional role in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, where it can be purchased from Drebin. Still, the world's most powerful automatic handgun is no stranger to videogames, which I think makes it a good candidate for Weapon Wednesdays.
After a two week absence, Weapon Wednesdays is back! And what better way to kick it off than with the most well-known assault rifle in the world? Hit the jump to read all about the AK-47!
While the SOCOM may play a major role in the Metal Gear Solid games, it is not the only pistol. The Heckler & Koch USP is favored by Olga Gurlukovitch and Solid Snake later uses it during the opening Tanker mission. Hit the jump to read all about the USP.
